  • Tasks relate the instructional intents, including the content and skills that should have been covered in the lesson(s), with the questions that measure student outcomes.
  • Tasks incorporate input from local, district, state, and national stakeholders to reflect shared goals in performance exercises.
  • Tasks provide the context for measuring multiple goals. They can be interdisciplinary in nature, and may be based on real-world tasks. Regardless of their makeup, tasks must enable students to demonstrate what and how much they have learned.
  • Tasks provide specific information about the administration process, the task questions, and the scoring criteria that will be used.
