Objectives:
- To evaluate a student's ability to observe differences and similarities.
- To evaluate a student's ability to classify objects according
to similarities and differences in their physical properties.
Questions:
- What is the same about all of the objects you put in...
- Group 1 ____________________________________________________________________________________
- Group 2 ____________________________________________________________________________________
Student answers should observe that there are three properties
among these objects (size difference, color difference, and shape
difference). Students should use one of these properties as a
basis for separating these objects.
- Now take ONLY the objects in "Group 1" and divide just these
objects into "Group A" and "Group B."
- What is the same about all of the objects you put in...
- Group A ____________________________________________________________________________________
- Group B ____________________________________________________________________________________
Student answers should come from the same three properties
described in question one (size, shape, or color). Students should
not use the same property used in their first answer.
