Task: At this station, you will observe physical changes of two different materials.

Materials:

• Thread A
• Thread B
• Tweezers
• Burner

• You have been given two different threads of material labeled A and B. Pick up one end of material A with the tweezers. Hold the other end about one centimeter above the top of the flame. Watch carefully what happens.
• Now do the same thing with material B.
• Try to find three things which happened which were the same and three things which were different.
• For each difference you find, say how it was different for the two materials.
• You can do the experiment again if you want to.
