Assessment Publishers and Projects

Assessments are available from a variety of publishers and projects, which fall roughly into one of four categories:

  • Assessment Projects: Projects that have been developed specifically for the purpose of program evaluation.
  • Commercial Publishers: Companies who have, or can, develop custom assessments for you.
  • Customized Groups: State, district, or other programs who have developed their own assessments.
  • Customized Co-ops: Collections of states, district, or programs who have developed their own assessments.


Assessment Projects

State Collaborative on Assessment and Student Standards (SCASS) provides assessments in a variety of formats, including performance tasks, events, open-ended and selected-response exercises, and portfolio assessment model.

Partnership for the Assessment of Standards-based Science (PASS) offers multiple-choice, open-ended, Constructed response investigations, hands-on performance tasks.

Video Discovery offers laserdiscs with accompanying print material and computer software, as well as CD-ROMs for the school and home markets, many with Internet-based extensions. The company has published a full range of programs in science and math that help school and home users integrate skills by engaging them in active learning.
